Berklee College of Music awarded vocalist, songwriter, and activist Annie Lennox an honorary doctorate at its commencement ceremonies in May.

Hours before the commencement concert—during which Lennox performed a stunning rendition of “Cold”—she took some time out to talk about her life in the industry and what lessons Berklee’s graduates should keep in mind as they set out on their own musical journeys.

She speaks about bringing your own flavor to your music, her collaboration with Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart, the importance of staying humble and grateful in the face of fame, and how Berklee is the “launching pad for the next adventure.”

Here’s a few videos for you to catch up on, Annie’s interview, her acceptance speech, performances of Annie Lennox and Eurythmics songs by the students, and an audience filmed recording of Annie performing Cold.
