Dave Stewart Duesenberg GuitarCHART-topping musician Dave Stewart has come up with a charity donation to strike a chord with Rowcroft Hospice.

The former Eurythmics frontman has donated a limited edition guitar to help raise funds for the Torquay hospice.

The guitar, from manufacturer Duesenberg’s Artist Series, features artwork from Stewart’s 2011 solo album The Blackbird Diaries. It is number 41 of only 52 made.

Stewart, best known for his work in the Eurythmics with Annie Lennox on hits such as Sweet Dreams, There Must be An Angel and Thorn In My Side, has also hand-written a letter expressing his reason for choosing Rowcroft.

It reads: “I am proud to be able to support Rowcroft Hospice in this form.

“Caring for someone at the end of their life is something we all go through one time or another and hospices like Rowcroft are a great help to patients and their families in this difficult and emotional time.

“I would like to express my thanks to the people of Rowcroft and hope the money raised by this guitar auction will help if only a little in their ongoing work.”

The letter will be auctioned alongside the guitar and a signed copy of Stewart’s latest album The Ringmaster General. He is holding the Duesenberg guitar on the album cover artwork.

The guitar will be auctioned at Bonhams in London on December 18 with a guide price of £2,000 to £3,000. The retail price for the guitar is around £7,000.

Katy Winter, Rowcroft’s events officer, said: “We would like to extend a huge thanks to Duesenberg and Dave Stewart.

“We hope this donation will not only help raise vital funds for Rowcroft but also increase awareness for our charity.”
