Annie Lennox led a fitting tribute to the lost artistry of David Bowie at the 2016 Brit Awards in London this evening.

Annie’s surprise appearance this evening saw her deliver an emotional speech where she spoke of the loss of the icon, and how hard it is to use his name in the past tense.  Annie at times seemd quite close to tears as she held the audience in silence as she delivered her speech.

The award was collected by David Bowie’s close friend Gary Oldman who also went on to talk about his memories of Bowie, and how even in facing the battle of his illness he still found a sense of humour.
